THE FRED BARNETT ROTARY AWARD

 

The Fred Barnett Rotary Award is a perpetual award from the Rotary Club of Gisborne in honour of our Charter President, Dr Fred Barnett, who passed way in September 2003.

Dr Fred was a Dental Surgeon of very high distinction in the School of Dental Science at the University of Melbourne and was a member of the Board of the Faculty of Dental Science from the 1970's until his death.

Also active in private practice since 1949, he obtained registration in the specialist register in Victoria in 1981 as a Specialist Prosthodontist.

As a Rotarian, Fred was first a member of the Rotary Club of Essendon where he served as President before coming to Gisborne in 1977 as our Charter President, being awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in 1982, and culminating in a rotary life of 42 years.

This award is given to a Club Member who reflects the attributes of Fred Barnett -

  • Achievements and ethical standards in Vocation, and
  • Personal integrety in Fellowship and friendship
