CURRENT PROJECTS
'CLEAN-UP' AUSTRALIA DAY
Registered with the Clean Up Australia committee, the Club every year seeks assistance from the Community for this day, allocating specific areas in Gisborne for the attention of club and community volunteers. A sausage sizzle is provided at the end of the day's program.
SENSORY GARDEN AT AGED CARE FACILITY
For some five years the Club has maintained a Sensory Garden it provided at the Oaks and Elms aged care facility in Gisborne. Club members volunteer throughout the year to cultivate, weed and plant according to the seasons.
INTERNATIONAL HOUSE SCHOLARSHIPS
Every year the Club provides a resident student with a scholarship for study at Melbourne University. The presentation is made by the President, on invitation of the Head of I.H., with several members dining with the students for their evening meal.
NEW ROTUNDA IN GARDENS
The Gisborne Rotary Club has had plans in hand for several months now to erect a Rotunda over the barbecue structure in the Jacksons Creek gardens in the vicinity of the Adventure Playground.
Grants provided by the Shire Council and the GREAT Association, with various fund-raising activities by the club and members, have enabled the necessary permits and building plans to have been approved, and to secure materials etc.
It is hoped that the Rotunda will be erected in November, and all works completed before the Christmas break. Club members and friends will carry out the necessary painting etc. during the construction, and any offers of assistance in this regard should be made to Past President, Pat Bialobrzeski, who is in charge of the project.
Communications to Pat can be made by telephoning 5428 3474 or emailing her at: patbial@bigpond.com.
